Guam Reporting Specifics
Guam generally enforces a 5-year dormancy period for the majority of property types, including savings accounts, checking accounts, certificates of deposit, and securities. Unusually, this 5-year period also applies to travelers checks, which typically have much longer dormancy periods in other jurisdictions.
However, holders should note specific deviations. Wages become reportable after 2 years, while matured life insurance policies have a longer dormancy period of 7 years.
Guam has a very strict aggregate limit. Only amounts less than $1.00 may be aggregated. This effectively requires holders to provide detailed owner information for almost all reportable properties.
