Wyoming Reporting Specifics

Wyoming's unclaimed property statutes generally enforce a 5-year dormancy period for most banking properties, including savings accounts, checking accounts, and certificates of deposit. However, holders must be attentive to distinct timelines for other assets: unpaid wages, utility deposits, and dissolution proceeds become reportable after just 1 year. Securities, dividends, and debt obligations carry a 3-year dormancy period. Life insurance proceeds are reportable after 5 years, though demutualization proceeds have a shorter 3-year window. Additionally, Wyoming allows for an aggregate limit of $50; items valued under this amount may be reported as a lump sum without detailed owner information.
